PortaPoet is a suite of Services (including website and mobile application) developed by Artisan Engineering LLC (Artisan) that enables users to write and publish poems, engage in poem battles, collaborate and share poems on social media.
This Privacy Policy describes how and when PortaPoet collects, uses and shares your information when you use our Services. PortaPoet receives your information through our mobile application and website when you register and use it to access our Services. When using our Services you consent to the collection, transfer, manipulation, storage, disclosure and other uses of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. Irrespective of which country you reside in or supply information from, you authorize PortaPoet to use your information in the United States and any other country where PortaPoet operates. Information Collected Upon Registration: When you create or update a PortaPoet account, you provide some personal information, such as your username, password, and email address. Some of this information, for example, your username, is publicly available on our Services, including user profile screens and in search results. Some Services, such as searching and viewing poems and public user profiles do not require registration.
Poems, Poem Battles, Collaborations and other Public Information: The primary purpose of our Services is to help you write and share your poetry with the world. Most of the information you provide us is information you are asking us to make public. This includes not only the content you post to our Services but also the metadata related to the content, such as when you posted content. Your public information is broadly and instantly disseminated. For instance, your user profile information and poetry may be searchable by search engines and are immediately delivered via our mobile application and website to other users of the Service and the general public. Please think carefully before sharing your content through our Services as you are making it public.
Cookies: We use cookies and similar technologies to collect website and mobile application usage data and to improve our Services, but we do not require cookies for some parts of our Services such as searching and viewing poems. A cookie is a small data file that is transferred to your computer's hard disk. PortaPoet may use both session cookies and persistent cookies to better understand how you interact with our Services, to monitor aggregate usage by our users and web traffic routing on our Services, and to customize and improve our Services.
Device identifiers: When you use a mobile device like a tablet or phone to access our Services, we may access, collect, monitor, store on your device, and/or remotely store one or more "device identifiers." Device identifiers are small data files or similar data structures stored on or associated with your mobile device, which uniquely identify your mobile device. A device identifier may be data stored in connection with the device hardware, data stored in connection with the device's operating system or other software, or data sent to the device by PortaPoet.
A device identifier may deliver information to us or to a third party partner about how you browse and use the Services and may help us or others provide reports or personalized content and ads. Some features of the Service may not function properly if use or availability of device identifiers is impaired or disabled.
Data Logs: Our servers automatically record information ("Data Logs") created by your use of the Services. Data Logs may include information such as your IP address, device type, device and application IDs and cookie information. Data Logs are generated when you interact with our Services, for example, when you use our mobile application to sign into our Services and post or browse content. PortaPoet uses Data Logs to provide our Services and to measure, and improve them. Data Logs may be periodically deleted.
Third-Parties: PortaPoet uses a variety of third-party services such as Google Analytics to help provide our Services and to help us understand the usage of our Services. These third-party service providers may collect information sent by your browser or device as part of a web page request, such as cookies or your IP address.
Service Providers: We engage service providers to perform functions and provide services to us all over the world. We may share your private personal information with such service providers subject to confidentiality obligations consistent with this Privacy Policy, and on the condition that the third parties use your private personal data only on our behalf and pursuant to our instructions.
Law and Harm: Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this Policy, we may preserve or disclose your information if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation or legal request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security or technical issues; or to protect Artisan's rights or property. However, nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to limit any legal defenses or objections that you may have to a third party's, including a government's, request to disclose your information.
Change of control: In the event that PortaPoet and/or Artisan is involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information such as username and email address may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. The buyer or transferee will have to honor the commitments we have made in this Privacy Policy.
Non-Private or Non-Personal Information: We may share or disclose your non-private, aggregated or otherwise non-personal information, such as but not limited to: your public user profile information, poetry published to our Services, the people who subscribe to your published content, or the number of users who rated your poetry.
If you are a registered user of our Services, we provide you with tools to access or modify some parts of the personal information you provided to us and associated with your account. Some parts of your account including username and email address cannot be updated after registration.
Our Services are not meant to be used by persons under 13. If you become aware that a person under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@portapoet.com. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we take steps to remove such information and terminate the child's account.
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version of the policy will govern our use of your information and will always be at http://www.portapoet.com/privacy. If we make a change to this policy that, in our sole discretion, is material, we will notify you via an email to the email address associated with your account. By continuing to access or use the Services after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
